I'm sorry Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

I've been using the Insignia Pilot 8GB for a little over a month now, and would like to share a little about it.

First off, at $160.00 this flash player is already way cheaper than most of the competition. The 4GB version sells for $130.00

But, cheaper isn't everything, even if this thing cost more than the other guys, it would be worth it. Here's a list of features:
  • 2.4" LCD display (320 x 240 resolution)
  • Works with Audio, Video, Audible Books, Rhapsody, iTunes (They claim), and Pictures
  • Digital FM Tuner
  • Custom Equalizer
  • SD (High Capacity) Expansion
  • Bluetooth
  • Two audio out ports
  • Line in
  • Video out
  • USB 2.0
  • 25 hour batter life (removable)
  • Windows, Mac, Linux compatible

Here's a list of digital media formats that work with the pilot:
MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, WMA DRM, WMA Pro, OGG, WAV, Audible, MPEG4 (30 fps), WMV (30 fps) and JPEG
I am unsure about iTunes support. They claim it's compatible, but do not list the iTunes acc music format. Does anyone know more about this?

I'm sure there are things I'm missing. The screen is bright and can be adjusted to your liking or even turned off. The manual scroll well is comfortable and allows for exact scrolling or very fast scrolling. The menu's can take a little getting used to, but once you understand it, you realize it is laid out very nicely, there are just so many features! You can customize the background design with a few pre-set color schemes. I bought mine with the Insignia bluetooth headphones and they pair up amazingly, although sometimes not right away when I start up the player. I love the innovative rocker at the top that allows you to quickly add or remove stars from songs. I've never used the rating feature on an MP3 player before because it was never worth the effort before. Now I actually enjoy rating my music as it plays.

My overall consensus is that it is far superior to other similar flash MP3 players out there, especially the ipod ones which lack the features and cost way more. So go out and buy the Insignia Pilot 4GB or 8GB!

Pros:
Decent size, comfortable to hold, great price, expandable memory (Supports SDHC!), bluetooth, removable battery, good screen resolution, Computers see it just like a flash drive or through your favorite music sorting program.
edit: Also if anything goes wrong while under warranty, just take it in and they'll replace it.

Cons:
Mine came with a poor battery (which I returned), the album art can be tricky to get to display, and I know some people report problems with video sync.

Good effort here, I hope you can generate some traffic. So far I am on two Insignia forums but neither is very active.

I've had my 4Gb Pilot for about a week. A few problems but so far no show stoppers. I'll elaborate on that when I have a little more time.

Do you have a separate charger for your Pilot? I have been looking for one so I can play videos without draining the battery. People have recommended the RAZR charger but the only one I looked at did not have the proper connector. I see combo car/home chargers on eBay for a good price but have not found anything locally.

I use a charger from an old mp3 player I used to have (Rio Carbon). It came with an ac wall charger that you just plug a usb cord into. Any charger that has a mini usb connector will work though because the usb standard is 5 volts, so everything is the same.

I am using a car usb charger that is for my GPS unit. It works nicely with the Pilot.

However, I still have not picked up an AC usb charger. Actually I have not seen one in any store I visited, though to be honest I have not looked hard. Some of the usb cell phone chargers seem to operate at pretty low amperage and I am not sure will drive the charger at full capacity. On the other hand the car charger for the GPS unit is 5V, 1A and I know will deliver full charging performance.

Just wanted to put my 2 cents worth in about my Insignia. I have had the NS-DV4G for over a year. It was about $130.00 when I purchased it and it has been a great Music, Video, Reader, Movie player. I have a ton of my movies from DVD compressed and on Micro sd chips and can watch full length movies if I want. It has realyy been a great buy. All I want a new for is Bluetooth.

Now that I have had my Pilot for several months I am happier than ever with it. For the price the feature set is quite amazing! Tonight for the first time I used TV Out to view some video blogs on my television. Worked like a charm and the quality was good.

One note on TV Out... There are some cables that are not pin compatible with the Pilot. For instance, I used a cable from my video camera. I had to switch the yellow cable to red, the red cable to yellow for it to work. My understanding is that the Cable that Best Buy sells for the Pilot does not have this little problem.

In any case, the Pilot is not a perfect device. For the money it is nevertheless quite a bargain.
