I'm sorry Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

Unfortunately there isn't really anything that can be done. Unfortunately this is one of the downsides of LCD screens, they are prone to this as parts stop working. On a larger screen it's technically fixable, but usually not worth the cost. I don't even think it's fixable on this small a scale.

The only thing is to get it fixed or replaced under warranty, although it's probably older than a year if the screen is doing this.

It could be a loose video cable. If there is no hope of getting service or a replacement it might be worth your while to open it up and see if you can locate the video cable and try to reseat it. A long shot. There may be some videos on YouTube that show how to open the Pilot. I know there is one that shows how to replace the battery. Wish I could be sound more positive. I have the extended warranty on my Pilot but since it has been discontinued I don't know if it will do me any good in the event of a failure.

There is nothing else on the market with the feature set of the Pilot, at least not in that price range. I'm seriously thinking about checking eBay for a spare Pilot.

speaking of the warranty on the Pilot...
since they discontinued them, what happens to the warranty, does that go out the window too?

They have to honor the warranty. What they do about it is hard to say though. They may ship another from a warehouse where they have leftovers from after they stopped selling them. They may offer to replace it with a refurb (Not necessarily bad. Refurbs are usually just as good as originals). Or, they may give you credit towards another item player at the store.
