ok, this is very weird....

first off, i'm 15... my dad is a computer engineer..

i've done everything I can think of to make this thing work, its a great product and all, and have had no problems with it for the past year (I have a 2 year warranty on it so if you cant help me, i'll get a new one....)

for one, i'm on the orignal 1.006 firmware (cant upgrade it cause nobody knows how) and for some reason, when I started it, it didn't play my first song like it usually does, it did this loud BEEP noise.... prior to the start I was told it crashed and had to force restart (hold the power button for 5 seconds)... for some songs it'd crash just before reaching the end of certain songs (rarely).... I play it with the 4GB internal and a 4GB micro SD card, with its SD adapter... the internal I know is full, and the card was almost full (movies + music)

now its to the point, if I plug it in to the computer, it has absolutely no idea what its supposed to be (vista, XP, and media center) but, certain times it will load and work for about 5 minutes, I did get it to run enough to erase the internal memory to get it to actually run a little bit, but after that its really hard to get it to turn back on.... i'm thinking battery or processor problems.... I have taken the back off and pulled the battery to see if that works... no luck...

if theres anything anyone knows about this... please contact me... odd@pdn.net 843-245-9617.... (if you call, wait till 4:00 to 5:00 Eastern... school)...

on a side note: with the SD card plugged in... my lights decided not to work some time after I was using it... when this problem started, I pulled the SD card first and the lights came back, not that big of a deal but.. you know

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

thank you

I'm sorry Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

I just skimmed your post since I'm off to bed here, but it sounds like you've got a lot going wrong. First thing I would suggest is using windows to format it. Did you say you already did that though?

At the moment the only other thing I can think is a replacement. Best Buy is good with that. Although I don't think they carry them anymore so I'm not what they'd do. I'll re-read this tomorrow when I'm not about to fall asleep and post more if I think of something.

I got it to load to windows for like, 5 minutes... enough to Format it yesterday, but it didn't fix a thing about it... its a little late to try anything new right now, but when I get home tomorrow, I'll give it another try.

Hmm, if formatting it didn't do anything, it's very likely a problem with the firmware.

There is no way to put on new firmware or even re-flash the current firmware unfortunately.

The only thing left that I can think of is taking it in to Best Buy.
