last night my insignia was working fine.  this morning, the remote any button you push, even the power button just puts a 7 on the screen like your changing the channel.  the only way to turn on and off the tv is with the power button on it.  the only way to change channels is on the tv i think.  the remote only puts the 7's on the tv even the volume button, every button.  i took out the batteries put them back in, still 7's.  the tv was bought in december of 2008, so its under warranty i would assume.  anyone run into this before?

I'm sorry Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

I'm not sure exactly but it sounds like a problem with the remote. The code on your remote may have changed meaning you would need to reset the code. Here's a list of some Insignia TV remote control codes:

thanks for the list, but its an insignia remote that came with the tv.  its "working" now.  if i want channel say 9.1 and i push the 9 wait a second to get to the decimal point a 7 goes in right after the 9.  so its not perfect but its better.

so you think, i have to re-sync the tv and the remote via some codes?

Hmm that sounds quite odd. I would look through the user's manual if you still have it for any info on syncing the remote and tv.

Other than that, see if you can borrow another universal remote, use the codes to sync it, and see if that works. If it works with a different remote, the problem is your remote might be going bad, if it still does the same thing with the other remote, that's bad news.

Also, I just checked your original post to see how old it is. I would figure out if it's the tv or remote fairly fast so you can get it fixed or replaced under the warranty. Their warranties are usually 1 year.

Since it's a big item, I'd call either the store or the Insignia help line first so they know to expect you when you bring it in.

Thanks for the info Jax.  Did you start this site or do you work for Insignia?  If you started it and dont work for them, why did you start it?

I don't work for them. I started it because at the time there were no forums for Insignia products. The only help was scattered around or by calling their tech support which isn't helpful for most small problems. I also like playing around with websites, and when I saw the gap decided to fill it. I like their products and it didn't really cost much or take much time to put the site up.

Best of luck!
