Hi,  I hope someone can help me out.  I bought a used 2G sport off ebay knowing it had a problem but after looking in forums thinking that it probably just needed a reset.  Well, turns out that wasn't the case.  The player works (audio out, fm & buttons work, links to pc) but as soon as it's turned on I get an all white screen.  I have tried resetting.  I've tried formating via windows.  I've tried formating via holding down the MENU button on power up that I saw posted on another forum, and that one does change the screen - sometimes it's dark blue with a white stripe, sometimes light and medium blueish stripes, once I could even read a little bit of the Insignia logo.  However, as soon as the power is cycled again that is gone and we're back to the all white screen.  I called BB and they said they'd replace the unit for me but I need a serial number, since this is used apparently someone else removed the sn, the little sticker is not on the back and I have no box or anything with a sn on it.  I tried to get them to email me the firmware to see if I could re-flash it (since the video did sort of work for a few seconds at one point, thought it was worth a try) but they said it is not available to do that and there are no upgrades yet.  So, does anyone here have any tricks I can try?  Thanks in advance for any help. I'm sorry Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

I'll keep thinking on this one and post anything that comes to mind.

It's possible the screen was damaged internally or that a cable is loose causing it to display improperly like that. I'm guessing these things because formatting it didn't work so that makes me think it's not a software problem.

If those were the problems though, I don't think you could fix them short of figuring out how to open it and fiddle around.

Does the screen ever display normally? Like when you plug it in to transfer files from the computer.
